Summary
Beginning June 1, 2022, participants may enter the Summer of Horsepower Giveaway, which will culminate in grand prize drawings including a vehicle and cash on Thursday, September 15, 2022. A similar giveaway will be conducted at Mystic Lake under the Summer of Horsepower Giveaway banner. Entries and giveaways at the two properties will remain distinct. No consideration is necessary to enter the contest. Individuals must be 18 or older to enter and meet eligibility requirements.
Valid Entry
Drawing entries may be earned and accumulated through the following mechanisms:
Official Contest Website: Guests may visit summerofhorsepower.com and fill out an online entry form to receive one free drawing entry at Canterbury Park and one free drawing entry at Mystic Lake.
The online entry form will be available June 1 – September 8, 2022.
Guests must be MVP Rewards members by midnight on September 8, 2022 to have online entry activated at Canterbury Park.

Onsite at Canterbury Park: Individuals may receive one or more free entries every day during the contest period by swiping their MVP rewards card at a designated horsepower giveaway contest kiosk and playing the Summer of Horsepower game. MVP rewards cards are free of charge.
Play via MVP Card: All players utilizing an MVP rewards card at Canterbury Park will earn one drawing entry for every 1 point earned.
Bonus Entry Days: Canterbury Park at its sole discretion may institute bonus earning days, entry multipliers, or other promotional avenues to earn entries. All bonus entry days will be posted on CanterburyPark.com.
Activating Entries
All entries must be activated on the drawing day to be eligible. Entries may be activated by scanning into a contest activation kiosk on the day of the drawing.
Players wishing to activate entries without entering the racing grandstand or card casino may do so at the promotional kiosk. Any player whose name is drawn will be granted free access to the Canterbury Park grandstand for contest participation and prize collection.
Prize Drawings
On Thursday, September 15, Canterbury Park will conduct random drawings from all eligible and activated entries in accordance with the following prize schedule:
5:00 PM: Five $100 Winners
6:00 PM: Five $100 Winners
7:00 PM: Five $100 Winners
8:00 PM: Five Grand Prize Contestants Identified
Guest’s whose name is called at drawing time must make their selves known to promotion staff within 5 minutes or another name will be drawn. Guests may only win once per drawing time. Drawing names will also be broadcast in the Card Casino and racebook.
Grand Prize Drawing
Grand prize giveaway to be linked to the first race with an official scheduled post time after 8:30 PM on September 15.
Grand prize drawing will occur at 8:00 PM.
Five contestants will be drawn to participate in the grand prize event.
All Grand Prize Participants must check at a MVP booth by the announced time. Individuals not checking in by the announced deadline will be replaced by an alternate.
In the order of being drawn, participants will be assigned horses in the grand prize race select an envelope revealing their assigned horse in the race (i.e. the first name drawn will be the first to select an envelope, etc.).
In the event a participant does not show up by the designated check in time, the first alternate drawn will be added to the horse assignment process following the last of the originally drawn participants. The process will continue until all horses have been assigned. In the event not all horses in the race have an assigned contestant prior post time due to no-shows, those horses will be treated as non-runners for the placing positions and prize schedule identified below.
Prizes will be based on the official order of finish. Starting with the person who has the 1st place horse of eligible runners, prizes are paid out as follows:
1st : Vehicle
2nd : $2,000 Cash
3rd : $1,000 Cash
4th : $1,000 cash
5th : $1,000 cash
A dead heat for any place other than the win, will result in the prizes being split. If a dead heat for the win occurs, the following race will be used as a “playoff race”, with one contestant having all the even numbered horses, and the other having all of the odd numbered horses. Odd numbered horses will be assigned to the contestant with the lowest numbered horse from the original contest race.
In the instance of a weather event or other incident that causes cancellation of the race determining the Grand Prize winner, an alternate giveaway mechanism among the five identified grand prize participants will be instituted by management.
Guests must have a valid driver’s license or state-issued photo ID and provide a valid social security number to win cash and prizes.
Guest participation in this promotion indicates acceptance to permit the use of name and/or likeness in advertising and promotional materials. Failure to agree will result in a forfeit of prizes won.
There is no cash alternative for the grand prize. Contestants are responsible for taxes resulting from prize winnings. In the event the grand prize winner does not want to take possession of the car, the prize will be forfeited.
Contest Period
Contest will run from June 1, 2022 through September 15, 2022 unless rescheduled due to cancellation rules below.
Eligibility
Guests must be MVP Rewards members to participate. Rewards membership is free.
The following are ineligible to participate in this contest: employees of AmTote; employees of the Canterbury Park, Canterbury Park racing officials and anyone forbidden to play the horses or obtain a MVP Rewards account at Canterbury Park.
Judging and Disputes
The management of Canterbury Park reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to this contest, without claim for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions and definitions not covered explicitly in these rules will be decided by the management of Canterbury Park, with those decisions to be final.
Odds
The odds of winning are determined by the number of entrants.
Publicity
By entering, winner agrees to the use of his or her name and/or likeness for publicity and promotional purposes without additional compensation.
Taxes
Contestants are responsible for taxes resulting from prize winnings.
